We would note that the Town Boards vote in favor of the medical center was unanimous. A few months later, three of the board members stood for re-election and faced no opposition. In a representative democracy like ours, this says much about support for the Aurora project.

Town of Summit residents should have voted on hospital (letter to the editor)

Waukesha Freeman, Mar. 29, 2006

After reading Mr. Prassers letter, lets set the record straight regarding the town of Summits wishes regarding the new Aurora hospital. I keep hearing advertisements on radio and in the area newspapers on how the town of Summit residents support this hospital and how the county board isnt respecting their wishes. Well that is simply not true.

The town of Summit board decided to support the hospital. The residents went to all their meetings and begged for a referendum so that the residents could make their wishes known. But the town board, in its infinite wisdom, chose not to do that and because those residents against the hospital do not have the monies of Aurora, our voices wont be heard.

I only hope that if we ever get the vote on the village issue, our voices will finally be heard. We dont need a village. We have no commercial property other than the hospital site and if we became a village, we wont have that. A village will just mean more taxes for the residents. I have yet to see a city or village have less taxes than a town.

Please let us vote!

Judy Millert
