Susa: ProHealth project hypocritical

Waukesha Freeman, May 10, 2006

Summit town Chairman Leonard Susa called ProHealth Cares decision to spend upwards of $40 million on two new capital projects hypocritical because of its stiff resistance to plans Aurora Health Care has to build a hospital in his town.

He called on the Waukesha County Board to reconsider its decision to keep Aurora from building on 53 acres in the town of Summit a decision that sparked a lawsuit from the town and Aurora. The lawsuit is on appeal before the District II Wisconsin State Court of Appeals after it was thrown out in Waukesha County Circuit Court in March.

ProHealth has been a vocal opponent of the Aurora project, citing the increased costs that it says follow from new hospital bed construction and duplication of services.

I would argue that it is very hypocritical, Susa said of that criticism. It is shameful that they would speak one way and then a year later do the exact opposite.
