Two hospitals would better serve area residents  (letter to the editor)

Waukesha Freeman, May 13, 2006

I have nothing against Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital or its planned expansion. Theyre growing because of the threat of competition from a possible new Aurora hospital in the nearby town of Summit.

My family has used OMH and its good to have a local hospital, but having two local hospitals is better. Within the last decade, the government has decided that hospitals would join corporate America and be driven like a business. So be it. From a patients point of view, and that could be any of us at any time, the more health care providers compete to provide the very best, the better off all of us will be.

Expand OMH? Fine. Build the new Aurora medical center? Yes.
