Thomas Alpren, MD
Ophthalmology
- Biography
-
Dr. Alpren has always striven to provide his patients with the highest quality ophthalmologic surgical and medical care possible. Just as importantly, he tries to remember what it's like to be a patient, rather than the doctor. He feels this allows him to communicate better, to anticipate the questions that patients in anxiety frequently forget to ask, and to provide information that is both understandable and informative.
Dr. Alpren earned his medical degree from Tufts University in Boston. He completed his residency at the Eye Institute in Milwaukee, followed by a one-year fellowship there in corneal surgery.
A board certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Alpren specializes in cataract and refractive surgery. He has been actively involved in performing and teaching refractive surgery since 1984 when he performed Milwaukee's second radial keratotomy. Currently Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, he has been recognized by "Milwaukee Magazine" as one of the top ophthalmologists in the area.
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Alpren now resides in Shorewood with his wife and three children.
