Aurora Psychiatric Hospital offers an ideal healing setting for individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse problems. Located on a beautiful, 30-acre wooded campus in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Aurora Psychiatric Hospital has served as a leader in behavioral health care since 1884. Our staff includes some of the area's leading psychiatrists, therapists and clinical nurses—all dedicated to delivering evidence-based treatment in a caring and confidential environment.
We offer a unique, patient centered approach to behavioral health care. From our landscaped garden areas to the use of pet therapy dogs, we create a healing treatment experience that fosters recovery. You’ll find the most comprehensive continuum of behavioral health care in the state, providing inpatient, partial hospitalization, residential treatment and intensive outpatient programming. Adult Inpatient Program: The Adult Inpatient Program is built upon the belief that we can achieve recovery from mental health and substance abuse problems through a comprehensive approach to one's psychological and social needs. We offer an evidence-based approach that provides the hope, healing, empowerment and connection that makes recovery possible for: severe depression, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, detoxification from drug or alcohol problems and self-destructive behaviors.
Adult Intensive Outpatient Program: This program is specifically designed to help individuals through times of extreme fear, severe depression and anxiety. More than just a matter of prompting people how to "weather the storm," this intense program teaches powerful, practical ways to respond effectively to any type of emotional distress, especially major crises, such as a job loss, health or relationship.
Adult Partial Hospital Program for Mental Health: Built upon the belief that we can foster mental health recovery through a comprehensive approach to a person’s psychological and social needs, this program offers an evidence-based approach that provides the hope, healing, empowerment and connection that makes recovery possible for: depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, thought disorders, as well as co-occurring disorders.
Child and Adolescent Inpatient and Partial Hospital Program: Our child and adolescent program provides a comprehensive and dynamic treatment approach for children, adolescents and their families. Addressing individual and family needs, our program provides patients aged 5–18 with a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment. We work closely with families to address acute needs and utilize a structured cognitive-behavioral model that helps children gain better insight into their actions and choices.
Child and Adolescent Day Treatment: Offering children a structured treatment approach designed to stabilize moods and address problems at home, school and in the community, we work closely with schools and parents to develop and coordinate effective treatment plans that address: attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD), depression, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder and self-harming behaviors.
Eating Disorder Services: We provide treatment for people who are struggling with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and co-occurring disorders. Offering three levels of care: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programming, our multi-disciplinary treatment team addresses the physical and psychological problems associated with an eating disorder.
The Residential Program at the Dewey Center: Located in the wooded-setting of the Dewey Center in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin, our residential rehab program addresses the physical, spiritual and emotional effects of drug and alcohol addiction to build the foundation for life-long recovery. Our medical staff includes some of Wisconsin's leading experts in treating addictions using a holistic and evidence-based approach to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and recovery.
The Opiate Recovery Program: Located in the Dewey Center, our Opiate Recovery Program uses an evidence-based approach that addresses the physical, spiritual and emotional effects of opiate addiction to build the foundation for life-long recovery.
The Adult Substance Abuse Program: We offer a full range of treatment options for adults over the age of 18 who are struggling with chemical dependency issues working with some of the area's leading addictionologists and certified chemical dependency counselors. Our programs are designed to address individual needs to minimize relapse and maximize one's ability to live without the use of addicting drugs.
Kradwell School: Our unique school located in Wauwatosa specializes in serving students who struggle in the traditional school environment due to emotional and psychological disorders. The school’s dedicated teachers and support staff generate student success by developing an educational plan tailored uniquely to the learning and behavioral characteristics of each child.
