Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore benefits from the vast resources of Aurora Health Care and the caring and compassion of a true community hospital, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008. Located in the heart of the south shore area, our hospital offers you a complete range of primary and acute care services.
Our community neighbors also count on our emergency services with specialists on-site 24/7 to respond quickly to life-threatening health conditions. We also feature a Rounding ICU Nurse Program, where highly skilled ICU nurses round in the emergency department hospital-wide treating critically ill patients.
Flight and ambulance transportation stand ready to transport emergency patients to Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee for the specialized care needed for advanced procedures. All members of our medical staff also have admitting privileges at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center to ensure smooth transition for complex tertiary care.
For a small hospital we win big awards. The Joint Commission has awarded us an Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center. As a Stroke Center of Excellence, our specialists can administer tPA—a clot-busting drug—to a qualified patient with the potential to reverse stroke symptoms, complemented by other advanced stroke treatments and rehabilitation services. In addition, The American Stroke Association presented Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore with the Gold Plus Performance Award for Stroke Care, the highest achievement award given. We’ve also been honored with the Magnet Recognition Program for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The Visiting Nurse Association also calls our location home, as well as Lakeshore Medical Clinic, which provides primary and specialty care to patients of all ages. Many Lakeshore Medical Clinic physicians practice here, which is a great convenience for patients and their families.

Cardiology Services: We provide a wide array of cardiology services close to your home with convenient appointment times. We offer the following: stress testing with echocardiography or nuclear imaging; echocardiography; outpatient holter monitoring; and outpatient 12-lead electrocardiograms. Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore has accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography (ICAEL). Our services are supervised by cardiologists with seamless connections to Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center for advanced heart procedures.
Radiology/Imaging Services: We provide a broad array of imaging services with state-of-the-art equipment, minimal wait time and convenient close-to-the-door surface parking. Outpatient imaging tests often may be scheduled within 24 hours. Our services include: general radiology; CT scans and CT angiography; MRI and MR angiography; ultrasound exams, including complete venous and arterial vascular imaging and breast ultrasound. We also offer digital mammography, bone density testing, nuclear imaging and cardiac stress tests with seamless connections to Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center for advanced heart surgical procedures. Our Interventional Radiology Department also offers a vast array of exams including liver, kidney and thyroid biopsies.
Intensive Care Unit: Our ICU was one of the first open-concept units in the country with 12 patient beds and one room specially equipped for bariatric patients. The ICU staff provides care for all types of patients requiring intensive care with additional remote monitoring 24/7 by specialized eICU doctors and nurses. Our physicians and nurses implement care protocols for our patients based on the identified best practices for the disease process being treated. We’re proud that we achieve excellent patient outcomes.
Surgery Services: Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore has a strong surgical focus, providinga wide variety of surgical services for both inpatient and outpatientprocedures. Our ambulatory surgery center, or same-day surgery, offersthe convenience of a separate entrance, pre-surgical testing area and, when needed, access to a full-service hospital. We have a comprehensive program offering minimally invasive, laparoscopic and traditional surgery options for a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment procedures, including: general surgery; gasteroenterology; gynecology; ear, nose and throat; ophthalmology; orthopedic; pain management; podiatric; and urology.
Specialty Diagnostic Treatment Center: At our hospital, we feature a setting for specialty physicians to perform minor procedures close to your home. ENT, GYN, general surgeons, orthopedist and urologists offer you their treatment services, and our highly trained nurses perform routine procedures ordered by your physician, such as injections and urinary catheter changes.
Wound Care Specialists: Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore features a wound center where we take a holistic approach to caring for people with chronic and acute wounds. The wound center at South Shore, (located in the Specialty Diagnostic Treatment Center) is part of the St. Luke’s Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine Center—offering a seamless connection to hyperbaric medicine for those patients in need. Together, the centers have won many national awards and are considered one of the top wound/hyperbaric centers in the nation.
Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic: We offer services in a satellite location and staffed with board-certified oncologists who provide high-quality medical care in the comfort and convenience of a clinic close to home. Our connection to Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee assures access to top physicians who specialize in specific types of cancer. The nursing staff is specialty trained in chemotherapy and oncology services on the special needs of each individual to provide the best care with any education, supportive and emotional support for patient and family.
Behavioral Health Services: We offer inpatient treatment for many behavioral health issues including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and acute self-destructive behaviors. Our clinical team provides individuated care and specialized programming for adults as well as older adults.
