Shared leadership – A method Aurora uses to train nurses in
decision-making. This program provides education to all nurses to develop

Aurora System Nursing Alliance – The council allows
nurses to be connected to each other no matter where
they are located. Membership in ASNA
is an expectation of all nurses within the system. Activities vary from
being aware of the structure for decision-making, to supporting colleagues
who are council members, to serving on the council or work groups.
Shared governance - Aurora's nursing
leadership drives down the decision-making to the level of the
staff nurse. All nurses participate in decisions on nursing care, patient
education, continuing nurse education, special projects and selection of
new patient care products. Bedside nurses also represent their colleagues
on executive boards and collaborate with administrators and physicians on
key initiatives. Aurora Health Care is recognized as a national leader and
consultant in this model.
Metro Clinical Practice Development Model - Aurora's unique
nursing model features a novice-to-expert nurse development pathway that
provides clear, measurable clinical skill achievements that has the
potential to more quickly develop novices into an expert nurses.
MCPDM values clinical practice and believes that advancement should be
based on this.
Research utilization development – Having the goal of
increasing nurse knowledge, willingness to engage, and ability to perform
research utilization activities to promote best practices and obtain
superior outcomes.
Outcome facilitation teams - Coordinates care over time and
across disciplines in the patient setting.
Care Management – Defines best practice in various
patient populations to improve patient outcomes by achieving care
compliance and decreased hospitalizations. The collection of data improves patient outcomes.
