Aurora nurses earn nursing care's highest honor fourth consecutive time
In 2014, Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center was recognized as a Magnet hospital for the fourth consecutive time since 2001. Magnet Recognition is the highest honor awarded for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Receiving Magnet designation for the fourth time places Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center and its nurses in an elite group of less than 1 percent of hospitals honored four times nationwide, and recognizes that we continually offer nurses an environment where they can deliver the highest-quality of care.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center developed the Magnet Recognition Program to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence. The program also provides a vehicle for disseminating successful nursing practices and strategies. The stringent designation process includes documented evidence of achievement of rigorous standards with validation through site visits.
“Magnet designation is the most prestigious honor bestowed in the nursing profession and this recognition is a confirmation of the great care that is given to our patients each day at these hospitals,” said Marie Golanowski, RN, President. “Magnet status shows nursing professionals, physicians and patients the importance Aurora places on the patient experience.”
Nurse and patient partnership for quality health care nursing practice framework
We believe every patient deserves the best care. Aurora Health Care nurses recognize they are equal partners with their patients, and that both the nurse and patient bring expertise to the care and treatment relationship. This belief helps our patients develop:
- A strong, supportive relationship with health care providers
- A feeling of empowerment and control
- Involvement in health care decisions
The successful nurse-patient relationship is built on a foundation of compassion, mutual respect and sharing of knowledge, which is recognizable in the safe, patient-centered care delivered by Aurora nurses.
