Physical Therapy Career Development

  • Mentorship opportunities
  • Internal and external continuing education courses
  • Staff in-service sessions/journal clubs
  • Program development
  • Development of evidence-based protocols and treatment planning
  • Opportunities to attend physician lectures, in-service sessions, observation and/or shadowing of physicians in surgery or office
  • Free Organizational Development courses covering topics such as information technology, leadership and communication
  • Participation in Aurora's clinical student educational program
  • Ability to move to other sites to learn from experts, hone specialty skills and become certified in different programs (examples include vestibular and balance, cancer rehab, occupational rehab, women's health, sports medicine, Reiki, craniosacral therapy and more)
  • Flexible scheduling to allow staff to teach or assist at local colleges and universities
  • Career development path toward clinical "specialist" designation (this is currently in place for spine, foot/ankle and shoulder; others in process)
  • Ability to follow clinical specialist or leadership career path
  • A board study program that allows physical therapy graduates to study and prepare for boards during the workday
