Building Bridges in the Community this Thanksgiving
"It was a very good feeling to put a turkey dinner on my table. It was a good feeling that someone thought enough to care." - Ruth, client of Aurora Family Service
For Ruth, and many others like her, the thought of not celebrating a traditional Thanksgiving meal was difficult to face. Last year, she was one of more than 3,000 grateful recipients of a Thanksgiving basket provided through Aurora Family Service's Family-to-Family Thanksgiving Program.
Family-to-Family Thanksgiving

Donate Now
As you prepare for a traditional Thanksgiving meal with your loved ones, please consider the chance to reach out to your neighbors in need. A donation of $35 will provide a family with a complete set of groceries - 12 lb. turkey, foil roasting pan, bread, butter, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables and fruit - so family members can work together to prepare their Thanksgiving meal.
Through Family-to-Family Thanksgiving, we provide opportunities for families to come together, enjoy each other's company and partake in a family ritual that so many of us take for granted.
Since 1996, Aurora Family Service's Family-to-Family Thanksgiving Program has helped lift the spirits of families in Milwaukee during the holiday season. With the economy continuing to be unstable and more families struggling to make ends meet, holiday traditions become even more important.
This Thanksgiving, Aurora Family Service is committed to assisting a minimum of 3,500 Milwaukee families. Nearly 100 community-based organizations, churches, and schools receive baskets that are distributed to families in need throughout the metropolitan area. Many other families receive their baskets at Aurora Family Service.
New this year is our partnership with 94.5 Lake FM. Their midday host, J. Pat Miller, is currently in training to walk 110 miles over four days in his
"Pilgrimage to Lambeau" to help raise awareness of and support for Family-to-Family Thanksgiving.
The walk will begin at the radio station's Capitol Drive studio on Tuesday, November 15 and conclude on Friday, November 18 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Miller will provide live updates on the air during his walk from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with real time tracking and hourly videos posted online. Follow J. Pat's journey online at his blog site.
Miller will walk each day of his journey until the daily goal of helping to feed families in the community is met. Each day's walk will conclude with an event in a town along the route.
Stay tuned for more information regarding events in these towns: November 15, Fredonia; November 16, Elkhart Lake; November 17, Forest Junction; and the final event at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
And thank you for your consideration and support of Aurora Family Service.
