Each year, many of us resolve to kick bad habits and make healthier choices for ourselves and our families. One challenge we all face is making the best financial decisions in these difficult economic times.
Aurora Family Service is an invaluable resource for individuals in our community who need financial counseling. More than a dozen caregivers are well-versed in helping clients find financial peace of mind.
The Center for Financial Wellness at Aurora Family Service helps people get back on track when debt has overwhelmed their lives. Whether it is a temporary or long-term financial crisis, counselors provide sound and affordable solutions that address each individual's needs. This includes learning to manage money, learning to set goals, and using a budget to get finances under control.
"Our primary role is to be a resource to our clients," said Karen Jackson, community financial program coordinator. "We are the social services side of Aurora Health Care and we are proud to help people in our community."
"It's very important that people find us before they start to think drastic thoughts about what to do in light of their financial situation. We're very understanding and supportive throughout the counseling process," said Kathryn Crumpton, manager, credit counseling.
One client, who participated in the Consumer Credit Counseling Service, was pleased with the help she received. "After I started meeting with Kathryn, I knew there was an end in sight. It took some work, but I am now debt-free. It wasn't just about the money issues. Kathryn was empathetic and she cared about me. I consider her a friend."
Founded in 1882, Aurora Family Service works with families to create strength-based solutions through community partnerships. A team of nearly 75 caregivers throughout Aurora Health Care work to enhance the ability of families to anticipate, identify, and manage challenges they face in their everyday lives.
