Women's Digestive Health CenterColorectal screeningCare coordinator | Colorectal screening | Genetics counseling | Acupuncture | Biofeedback Recent studies show that many women do not get the care they need to prevent colon cancer because they are embarrassed. Here at the Aurora Women's Pavilion, we proudly introduce you to our provider, Dr. Trivedi. Dr. Trivedi brings her tremendous expertise and skill in helping women understand issues relating to our digestive system in an environment respectful of their privacy. Luckily, colon cancer usually grows slowly, so it is recommended that the typical woman has a colonoscopy once only every 10 years starting at the age of 50 to prevent the development of colon cancer. This allows the physician to examine the colon with a colonoscope carefully for any early signs such as polyp and remove it before it becomes malignant. Women with a higher risk may need more frequent testing based on a review of their personal health risks with their physician.
