What is stress?

Stress is difficult or challenging situations requiring more of our attention and energy. It is neither good nor bad. It is a natural part of your daily routine. Attitude has a lot to do with how you handle stress. If you focus more on the difficulty of the stressful situation it will be more draining than taking it on as a challenge.

Few people fully appreciated the intricate, fine tuned ability of their body and mind working together to produce the energy and intensity so important in stressful situations.

The body's physical reactions and the mind's thoughts have the remarkable ability to produce the best combination of energy and intensity for “healthy stress reactions.”

On the other hand, a different combination of physical reactions and thoughts can produce a poor combination of energy and intensity resulting in “unhealthy stress reactions.” Unhealthy reactions will leave you overwhelmed or frustrated.

Healthy stress reactions are essential for healthy stress management. Healthy stress management has the advantage of increasing your awareness of the physical stress reactions in your body. This physical awareness gives you the added knowledge to specifically reduce the physical symptoms that come from unhealthy stress reactions.
