Substance abuse treatment

Nearly 20 million Americans abuse or are addicted to alcohol. Tobacco causes hundreds of thousands of deaths each year, killing more people than AIDS, alcohol, drug abuse, car crashes, suicides and fires combined. And nearly half of all Americans say they know someone with a drug problem.

The cost of dealing with illicit drugs alone approaches $67 billion annually. Every man, woman and child in America pays nearly $1,000 a year to cover the costs of unnecessary health care, additional law enforcement, auto accidents, crime and lost productivity resulting from substance abuse.

We believe that alcohol and other drug addictions are chronic, primary, and progressive diseases with multiple causes that affect the social, physical, spiritual, cultural, and emotional components of an individual's life. Successful treatment requires a comprehensive program to address problems and prepare for a successful recovery. It is also our philosophy that individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness and addiction should receive concurrent treatment when appropriate.

Aurora offers a full continuum of substance abuse treatment and related services for children, youth, adults and families:

  • Prevention, education and training
  • Intervention services
  • Detoxification
  • Outpatient and inpatient treatment
  • Partial hospitalization
  • Continuing care
