Comprehensive breast health services - Aurora Memorial Hospital of BurlingtonAurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington is one of the few hospitals nationwide to be accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Our program is one of the first breast programs in Wisconsin to earn this designation. Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. During the survey process, the center must demonstrate compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in the areas of: center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement.
Our breast health coordinators will help you incorporate breast health into your life by teaching you the importance of monthly self-examinations, and helping you to identify risk factors and warning signs. We offer radiologic exams for women, knowing that early detection is key to treating and surviving breast cancer. Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington was the first hospital in the Southeastern Wisconsin area to have accredited digital mammography. This state-of-the-art computerized X-ray technology captures high-resolution images of the breast electronically, providing faster, more accurate diagnosis and possibly earlier detection of cancerous tissues. Should cancer be detected, the Comprehensive Breast Health Center gives you access to a multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options. This includes oncology and radiology specialists as well as plastic and reconstructive surgeons. We provide information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options, and most importantly, quality breast care close to home. |
