Breast health coordinators

Who can you talk to if...

  • You discover a breast lump
  • Your physician finds something suspicious on your mammogram
  • You are scheduled for a biopsy and are scared
  • Breast cancer runs in your family?

For many women, the fear of developing breast cancer is very real. We understand the sensitive and significant nature of breast health. That's why we have breast health coordinators, registered nurses who specialize in breast health. Their role is as advocate, navigator, educator and partner at any stage in your breast care experience.

Whether you are having a routine mammogram or follow-up diagnostic test, once you request your personal breast health coordinator she will work to understand your needs and concerns. She will be there whenever and however you need her, explaining a diagnostic test, calling you with results, offering reassurance or just sitting with you while you wait. Her goal is for you to be as informed and comfortable as possible, every step of the way.

Breast care coordinators are available at these Aurora Health Care Breast Centers:

Cancer Counseling Center

The Cancer Counseling Center understands that the medical aspect is only part of the cancer, and that having a support system to help patients cope with the emotional aspect is invaluable. The Center offers counseling for patients and their families, assistance with fatigue, pain and other effects from the cancer or treatments, and other therapies such as massage or movement.

Breast cancer support team

Professionals who understand the concerns of breast cancer are an integral part of each care team. They include counselors, social workers, clinical oncology pharmacists, rehabilitation specialists and home care nurses.
