How does my EAP work?

Everyone can use a helping hand from time to time. While some problems are small and can be resolved fairly easily, others may seem so overwhelming that they are hard for us to face alone. No one is immune to these types of problems; they can occupy too much of our time and interfere with normal, day-to-day activities. The EAP can help.

Calling the Aurora Employee Assistance Program can be the first step towards taking charge of a situation that is affecting your health and well-being. Caring, professional staff can help with a wide variety of concerns such as depression, marital conflict, parent-child relationships, alcohol or drug abuse, financial pressures and caring for elderly parents, just to name a few. All you have to do is follow the steps below:

Step 1: Pick up the phone and call us at 1-800-236-3231

A member of our Intake Department will schedule an in-person or telephone assessment for you, link you directly with one of our Work/Life Specialists or transfer you immediately to one of our counselors. These services are provided to you free of charge. For your convenience, both day and evening appointments are available.

Step 2: Let's talk about the problem

During your first appointment, you and your counselor will discuss your specific situation and create an on-going plan towards resolution. This plan may include additional appointments with your EAP counselor. Sometimes that may be all that is needed to help you to resolve your situation.

Step 3: You may be referred to additional resources if necessary

Your counselor may decide that you could benefit from assistance beyond the scope of the EAP. If so, he or she will discuss your options and work with you and your insurance to refer you to the appropriate resources.

Step 4: We care about you

We will continue to be available for you now and in the future. If your counselor has made an outside referral, your counselor will want to hear from you. We want to confirm that you are receiving quality service and that you are making progress towards a healthier, happier you.

Remember – we're only one phone call away. The Aurora Employee Assistance Program is committed to helping you find healthy solutions for life in a quick, convenient and confidential way.
