EAP program models

Defining the right fit

An organization's employee benefits strategy should reflect its own unique culture. Workplace issues continually evolve and needs may change over time. Our professionals will work with your company to design and maintain a flexible, customized Employee Assistance Program that complements and enhances your total benefit package . . . and reflects positively on you and your company. Review the features of each of our program models and let us help you design an EAP that will help you reach your business goals:

Assessment & referral

Up to three confidential consultations are provided by our team of experienced professionals to determine an employee's specific needs and recommend the most appropriate services. Consultations may be conducted face-to-face or by telephone, depending on the situation and your preference. Assessment counselors may link employees with community resources, support groups, our EAP Work-Life Services, or professional treatment.

Short-term problem resolution

Up to six or eight consultations with a professional counselor are provided for the many problems that can be effectively resolved with a short-term, goal-focused model. This model is particularly useful for self-insured employers to help them efficiently manage their health insurance utilization.

Access

Access is a feature that may be added to the Assessment & Referral or Short-Term Problem Resolution models as an incentive for employees to utilize their EAP services rather than directly accessing mental health treatment. Employees who use the EAP to access their mental health benefits receive a higher level of benefit with this design.
The EAP assessment is a preventive, cost-effective approach that refers employees to the right level of care and the most appropriate type of provider, using preferred provider networks whenever possible.

Care coordination

With this model, the EAP serves as the access point for billable mental health and substance abuse treatment and provides ongoing monitoring and follow-up to ensure the right care, at the right time, in the right place is being provided. This model provides savings through the negotiation of preferred provider rates and the coordination of care. Efforts are focused on chronic and catastrophic conditions within the 20% of employees that studies show account for 80% of insurance dollars spent.

Total package

A full continuum of care that integrates Assessment & Referral, Short-Term Problem Resolution and Care Coordination to maximize the use of prevention and early intervention services and reduce the costs associated with intensive treatment.

Customization

We listen carefully to identify your company's needs and work with you to design a combination of services that is effective, affordable and convenient. As the needs of your business change, your EAP can be reevaluated in order to add or eliminate services. Additional business services — including Occupational Health, Complementary Medicine, Employee Wellness and Health-Link, a nurse advice line, and others — can be integrated with your EAP to provide a seamless continuum of total health care.

“Our workforce is diverse . . . with problems ranging from finding day care for a special needs child to dealing with a serious personal crisis. The Aurora EAP has the breadth and flexibility to connect the employee with the right help for his or her particular situation.”
