Kidney Cancer Patient Story: Thomas Tierney
Aurora St. Luke’s helps kidney cancer patient with full recovery
One evening in June 2012, Thomas Tierney experienced severe abdominal pain. After a trip to the emergency room in Madison, doctors discovered a tumor on his Kidney. At the time, they were not aware it was cancerous. Thomas was referred to Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee and was able to schedule an appointment the next week.
That's when Thomas sought the experience of the Aurora St. Luke's team, in which he was immediately reassured he was in good care. His cancer care and urology team also discovered blood clots that Thomas had developed prior to 2012 and immediately coordinated the surgery with a vascular specialist to avoid complications during his surgery.
Following the successful surgery, Thomas is now enjoying a complete recovery. He recalls that the trip to Milwaukee has put him in the best spot under physicians who are knowledgeable and who really care about his well being.
