ASCT teamThe autologous stem cell transplant team at St. Luke's brings together experienced professionals from many disciplines who work closely with patients throughout their experience. This team approach combines the knowledge and skills of program coordinators, physicians, nurses, radiation therapists, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, dietitians, social workers, financial counselors, chaplains and rehabilitation specialists. The ASCT program coordinator is a specialized registered nurse who provides patients and their families with the education they need to make informed decisions as they consider ASCT as a treatment option. They also coordinate patient care during each stage of the ASCT process. Along with the financial counselor, the ASCT coordinator assists patients in obtaining approval for treatment from their insurance companies. The ASCT physician team includes Robert Taylor, MD and Jonathan Treisman, MD, medical oncologists who specialize in autologous stem cell transplant. In addition to their clinical duties, the ASCT physicians regularly participate in national education sessions and meetings to enhance their skills.
