Vince Lombardi Resource Library

Facing cancer of yourself or a loved one is scary and often confusing. Although there is now a multitude of information available about the disease, finding it can be a daunting task. With the help of the Vince Lombardi Resource Library and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Hotline, cancer patients can face that task with ease and get the information they need to make informed decisions.

The resource library located within the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at St. Luke's Medical Center offers cancer patients resources to help them better understand their disease and make informed decisions about their treatment.

The resource library, which is open to the community, contains brochures, books, audiotapes, videotapes and a CancerHelp™ computer. Cancer patients can check out any of these resources, much like a lending library, to get information on cancer prevention, screening, early detection, specific cancer diagnoses, treatment options and support and coping issues.

The CancerHelp™ computer program operates with a touch-sensitive screen, easy for those without computer experience. The system can print information on current cancer treatments, which some patients use as a tool to discuss treatment options with their physician.

The Vince Lombardi Cancer Hotline, 800-252-2990, was established to give cancer patients and their loved ones access to a knowledgeable health care professional who can link them to the resources they need. Hotline staff take time to understand and address callers' concerns and link patients to the latest research, cutting-edge treatments, prevention information, support groups, financial counseling and many other resources. Calls to the hotline are completely confidential and the hotline is open to everyone.
