Physicians
Close to home, close to work
Our clinic is easily accessible in the near downtown
Milwaukee area. We provide a warm, compassionate atmosphere
for patients to see their doctors and receive advanced diagnostic tests and treatments, including chemotherapy on an outpatient basis.
Hospital connections
When hospitalization is needed, every effort will
be made to coordinate it through your primary care physician.
Community outreach
Research has shown that patients who take an active interest in their health care can have a more positive effect on their
outcomes. Our community outreach efforts focus on educating people in Milwaukee and surrounding counties about the facts that increase their risk of developing cancer, identifying ways to reduce their risk, and emphasizing the importance of early
detection. Activities include informational and educational programs like smoking
cessation, cancer screening and prevention study opportunities, support groups, and newsletters for physicians and consumers.
Resource library
Our library is located within the clinic to help patients and families search and obtain the information they need to make informed decisions about cancer prevention, early detection and treatment. The library offers computer access along with an
extensive array of the latest videos, books and pamphlets that can be checked out by patients and their families.
Support
Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic connects patients with counselors, social workers and chaplains, and arranges for home care and hospice services if needed. In addition, a variety of cancer
support groups for patients and families are offered through the clinic and in the Milwaukee area.
The team approach
The Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic offers an approach to care that
encompasses each patient's unique and total well being. This philosophy is carried out by a team of on-staff cancer care professionals
that includes board-certified oncologists, hematologists, and registered nurses who are certified in oncology. To help our patients
cope with social and emotional concerns, the staff also includes counselors, nutritionists, social workers,
home health nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists and psychologists. Our cancer care team works in conjunction with each patient's primary care
physician as well as the specialists at St. Luke's Regional Cancer Center.
Link to national
clinical trials and the latest treatments
Whenever
patients access care through a Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, they're linked to some of the most promising cancer research in the country.
The oncologists and other cancer specialists at Aurora Sinai Medical Center are involved in national cooperative research studies and clinical trials affiliated with such leading research organizations as the National Cancer Institute and University of Wisconsin-Madison. Involvement in such studies allows patients at Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinics to take part in the latest cancer prevention trials years before they are generally available to the public. One such study, the selenium and vitamin E prostate cancer prevention trial (SELECT) is a large nationwide study on the effect
of selenium and/or vitamin E supplements in preventing prostate cancer in healthy men, age 55
or older. To learn more about SELECT, please call the Aurora Sinai Medical Center Coordinator for this study at 414-219-3228.
