More people die of lung cancer than of breast, colon and prostate
cancers combined.
In 2007 in the U.S., there will be about 213,400 new cases of lung
cancer including about 114,800 men and 98,600 women.
In 2007 in the U.S., about 160,400 people will die of lung cancer
including about 89,500 men and 70,900 women.
For men, the average lifetime chance of developing lung cancer is 1
in 12. For a woman, it's 1 in 16.
Some people are cured of lung cancer. Today in the U.S., there are
about 330,000 long-term lung cancer survivors. This is due to advances
made in lung cancer treatment.
