The information listed below will answer many of your questions
and assist in assuring that you are prepared for your arrival to Same Day
Cardiac Services.
At home, before admission
Follow your physician's instruction about diet and
medication. Unless you were given more specific instruction, please omit the
meal prior to your procedure.

If you are taking anticoagulants (blood thinners), diuretics
(water pills) or are a diabetic, check with your physician for further
instructions. Continue to take your other medication.

If you are allergic to iodine, shellfish, seafood, contrast
or "dye," please contact your physician's office for further
instructions.

You will receive a phone call from the preadmitting
department to confirm your procedure and update insurance information. If
you do not receive a phone call by the day prior to your procedure, you may
call 414-649-6896.
Parking
Due to limited parking around the hospital, we recommend using
valet parking. Free valet parking is available beginning at 5:30 A.M. at the
main entrance.
Arrival
You will be admitted in the Same Day Cardiac Services
department, therefore, it is not necessary to stop at the main admitting
desk.

Same Day Cardiac Services is located on the first floor of
the Outpatient Building. Take the elevators at the main entrance down to the
first floor and follow the signs.

You may request a wheelchair escort to the Same Day Cardiac
Services department when arriving at the hospital's main entrance.

Your physician's office staff should have informed you
when to arrive to Same Day Cardiac Services. You will be asked to arrive
several hours prior to your scheduled procedure for any additional testing
ordered and procedural preparation done by your nurse. The procedure
immediately before yours may finish early, therefore, your doctor may begin
your procedure ahead of schedule.

Space is limited, therefore, please limit the number of
family members or visitors that accompany you.
For patients not anticipating an overnight stay (outpatient):
What to bring
All current medications in their original prescription
bottles. Bring a list of all the over-the-counter medication you take.
A copy of your Advance Directive (if you have one).
Your insurance card(s).
DO NOT bring valuables such as wallet, purse, money or
jewelry.
Discharge
The average length of stay is 5-12 hours.
For your safety, please make arrangements for someone to
drive you home.
For patients anticipating an overnight stay (inpatient):
What to bring

Personal hygiene products for a 1-2 day stay are optional
