Educating the Community
Heart Care Innovations
What is a heartbeat? How does your heart’s electrical system work? What’s the difference between a defibrillator, a pacemaker, and a ventricular assist device?
Cardiovascular specialists from Aurora Health Care and the Aurora Research Institute answered all these questions and more with the recent Aurora Health Satellite Exhibit at Discovery World in Milwaukee, WI, which ran March 15th through May 31st, 2014.
Aurora Heatlh Satellite Exhibit
The Aurora Health Satellite Exhibit took visitors into the frontiers of heart care innovations, including implantable defibrillators, stents, clips, pacemakers, ventricular assist devices, and echocardiograms.
Special topics included “Your Mighty Heart”, which allowed visitors to view the heart on a mechanical, electrical, cellular, and molecular level. The community was also encouraged to learn about stem cells, translational research, and how individuals can influence the future of cardiovascular medicine.
On six Saturdays during the exhibit, Aurora cardiovascular physicians and research scientists led interactive demonstrations to teach the community about innovative medical procedures and scientific breakthroughs at the forefront of cardiovascular medicine.
