Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at St. Luke's Medical Center
Treating Cardiovascular Diseases in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois
The Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Program of Anesthesiology Associates of Wisconsin is a group of 12 physicians who are board certified in anesthesiology and practice at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Our cardiothoracic group is dedicated to providing cardiac surgery patients with comprehensive anesthesia care before, during and after cardiac surgery. Our personalized, expert care takes into account the complexity of our patients’ conditions while applying the results of leading-edge research and best-practices medicine.
In many cardiac surgeries, the anesthesiologist monitors the beating heart continuously during the operation with an ultrasound picture to assess the effects of surgery and medication on heart function. We provide the cardiac surgeon with critical real-time information about the status of the heart and the effects of the surgery.
In addition to standard cardiac surgical approaches, we are experienced in newer cardiac surgery techniques, including trans-catheter aortic valve insertion (TAVI), a procedure in which the surgeon replaces the heart valve without opening the chest and without the need for cardiopulmonary bypass.
Why Choose Aurora’s Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Program?
Our cardiothoracic anesthesiologists partner with cardiac surgeons and cardiologists. Through training and extensive experience, we manage today’s most complex surgical and anesthetic challenges, including coronary artery bypass grafts, implantable ventricular assist devices, heart transplants and aortic arch replacements.
Our services include:
