Aurora Family Service 2010 Annual Report

Pirsig and ArnowDear Friends,

2010 was a challenging year for the families we serve at Aurora Family Service (AFS). But once again we are inspired by the strength, resilience and caring that turned struggle and despair into hope and new beginnings.

The economic downturn cast a spotlight on AFS's range of services offered by our Center for Financial Wellness. From budgeting classes and home foreclosure counseling to reverse mortgage counseling and debt repayment plans, financial counselors and case managers helped families find a new footing and escape the downward spiral of financial crisis.

Organizations as diverse as Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Oneida Tribe, and We Energies have sought the agency's expertise and perspective. And Center for Financial Wellness Manager Kathryn Crumpton reached an even broader audience in 2010 through her bi-weekly blog at www.cccswisconsin.wordpress.com.

2010 will also be remembered as the year AFS moved fully into the digital world. The move to electronic records throughout the agency required a major commitment of staff time and energy commitment on top of already full workloads. As we enter 2011, electronic records have given us enhanced capacity to manage our work, document success and plan for our future in a way only imagined a mere 15 years ago.

Through the highs and lows of 2010, the consistent support of our partners and donors provided a solid foundation to address change and growth. We are fortunate to call you friend and pleased to share our story in this annual report.

Sincerely,

Jane Pirsig, Executive Director, Aurora Family Service

Mike Arnow, Board Chair
