My Campaign
Extending Our Reach... What does your Thanksgiving look like? Food. Family. Friends. Giving thanks. Do you have a
special Thanksgiving memory? Think about what it would mean if you were able to help another family share in the same celebration by
providing an authentic Thanksgiving meal. Think about if five of your friends, neighbors or colleagues joined the effort.
Every year we receive calls from more families than we can accommodate. Last year Aurora Family Service was able to fulfill
Thanksgiving turkey basket requests within 8 hours. With current economic trends in mind, Aurora Family Service anticipates an even
larger influx of requests.
What if we asked our friends, family and colleagues to sponsor 1, 2, or even ten families this year for the Family-to-Family
Thanksgiving event?
Now, I am sure you are asking yourself, with these
difficult economic times how can I ask my family and friends to support a family for $35 when they are trying to make ends meet? That is
the easy part. You don't have to ask them to donate the full amount, you can ask them to contribute to your own campaign. How?
This is easy too through the use of Aurora Family Service's "My Campaign" tool. You begin by pledging to make a difference in our
community this year, by deciding how many families you would like to support as your goal. For instance, let's say your goal is to help
3 families receive a Thanksgiving meal this holiday. You will need to raise $105. Next, through your "My Campaign" webpage, you can
share your message and inspire your friends, family, and neighbors to join you on your meaningful effort.
What if you don't have computer access? Not a worry, contact Nicole Hiatt in the development office. Nicole can be reached at
(414) 345-4954. She can send you a donation-tracking sheet. Our team is also available to help you set-up your page if you need any
assistance.
You will be surprised to see how many of your friends and family will be willing to help in your campaign when they work together to
achieve such an attainable goal. Collective contributions are doing more than providing a family with a Thanksgiving basket. Together,
we are bringing families together, and providing hope in the face of these difficult and challenging times.
We hope you will consider and take part in making a difference in the lives of families in your community. For more information on
the AFS Family-to-Family Thanksgiving event or other AFS programming please call 414-345-4954.
