Wisconsin's premier postgraduate professional school for marriage and family therapists, the Family Therapy Training Institute pioneered the apprenticeship approach. Since its establishment in 1972, FTTI has provided mental health professionals the advanced skills they need to remain at the forefront of family systems therapy, with a two- to three-year program leading to eligibility for clinical membership in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

FTTI graduates also meet the State requirements for licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) in Wisconsin. In addition to classroom time, FTTI trainees gain valuable clinical experience by providing high-quality, low-fee counseling for families in home, work, school and community settings.

coupleFTTI places special emphasis on the recruitment and training of human service professionals from diverse backgrounds, including African American, Hispanic and Hmong.
