Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy consultations
Patients are evaluated after referral by their attending physician. Treatment regimen and other
recommendations are then presented by the HBOT physician specialist to the referring/attending physician who remains responsible for the patient's general medical management. Successful
therapy requires a team management approach.
Because oxygen intake under increased atmospheric pressure is a potent drug, hyperbaric oxygen must be administered carefully to avoid toxic effects. The protocols established by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), the patient's clinical response and other factors determine the number of treatments required.

Normal working hours are weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Staff is on 24-hour standby for emergency treatment and consultation.
Emergency patients have rapid access to Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center via rooftop heliport.
