Investing in the Future of Integrative Medicine

You may see a medical resident and an attending physician during your consultation at some locations. As Integrative Medicine is a new field, Aurora Health Care is committed to growing an expanded group of physicians who will practice with this same collaborative, holistic philosophy.

Integrative medicine is now a required component of graduate medical education at eight residency sites around the nation.

Aurora Family Residency is an early-adopter site. We have incorporated a hybrid integrative-medicine learning model into our three-year residency program.  One element is the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine’s 200-hour online competency-based core curriculum, which has been woven into the conventional residency training program.

One element is the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine’s 200-hour online competency-based core curriculum, which has been woven into the conventional residency training program without the need to add an extra year of training. The online training curriculum is modular and customizable by residency program and offers a number of multimedia tools, including online competencies, for seamless education and point-of-care use.

About Integrative Medicine in Residency

Integrative Medicine in Residency (IMR) is a 200-hour competency-based, online curriculum in integrative medicine, designed for incorporation into primary care residency education.

The Integrative Medicine in Residency (IMR) program addresses a demand for residency training in integrative medicine, for both faculty and residents.

Launched in 2008, the Aurora Health Care IMR serves as the national model for addressing topics currently not included in conventional medical education. It is committed to developing physicians who model the healthy lifestyle they learn about, have a positive sense of well-being, and are relationship-centered in their approach to medical care.
