Chiropractic Care

Muscular or skeletal pain affects an estimated 80% of Americans at some point in their lives. Chiropractic care is a non-invasive, natural way to treat back pain and related issues. The licensed, board-certified chiropractors at Aurora Health Care will work with you to provide convenient, comprehensive care that helps ease your pain and gets you back to your daily routines.

What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a healing art and science that uses a natural approach to health, without drugs or surgeries.  It has been practiced for more than 100 years and covers a broad range of therapies. The principle treatment method is manipulation of the spine and other joints in the body. This therapeutic manipulation is used to restore normal joint motion, and promote proper function between the joints and the nervous system. Our chiropractors also emphasize restoring function and flexibility to muscles that may cause joint strain.

While the foundation of chiropractic care is spinal adjustment – using a quick, gentle thrust – chiropractors also recommend exercise, stretching, nutrition and more depending on the patient's unique needs.

At Aurora, we offer complete chiropractic evaluation and care for:

  • Arthritis
  • Back pain
  • Disc conditions
  • Headaches
  • Knee or ankle pain
  • Neck pain
  • Pinched nerves
  • Sciatica issues
  • Shoulder or arm pain
  • Spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal column that causes pressure on the spinal cord)

What to Expect

During your first visit, your chiropractor will discuss your health history and what brings you in. This is followed by a physical examination to determine what might be causing your pain. If appropriate, you can be treated that same day.

A typical plan of care for Aurora chiropractic care is for patients to receive treatment a number of times, based on the chiropractor's assessment, during the course of two weeks. Your chiropractor will evaluate your progress and modify your care as needed. You may find relief and be released after only a few treatments.

Your plan of chiropractic care may include:

  • Orthopedic or neurological evaluation and diagnostic testing
  • Adjustments, manipulation or mobilization (decompression or traction techniques)
  • Education on the cause of the pain
  • Activity modification, stretching or exercise instructions
  • Muscle and soft-tissue care
  • Therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, light therapy or muscle stimulation)

Your chiropractor may offer advice for improving your overall health. This may include diet and nutritional counseling, and education about vitamins, herbs and minerals.

Why Chiropractic at Aurora Health Care

At Aurora, our chiropractors have access to diagnostic procedures such as imaging services, computerized tomography (CT scan) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other state-of-the-art technology.

Our licensed chiropractors work in the same clinics as physicians, rehabilitation specialists and other health care professionals to provide convenient, comprehensive care and the best possible patient outcomes. Aurora's collaborative model has proven effective in treating patients with myriad back and spinal issues, from back pain, to disc conditions, to sciatic and more.

Our chiropractors work with your primary care physician or rehabilitation specialist. If, during your comprehensive chiropractic exam, your chiropractor recognizes a problem outside his or her area of expertise, he or she will refer back to your primary care physician or another specialist. It's all about the collaborative, comprehensive care offered at Aurora.
