Leading-edge treatment

The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are caused primarily by the deterioration of the myelin sheath around the nerve cells. It is our goal to retard the destruction of this material as much as possible. While there is no cure for MS, there are several drug therapies available that delay the disease's progression or reduce the severity of attacks.

Plasmapheresis, a revolutionary technique that eliminates antibodies and other substances which could damage the nervous system from the blood, may offer further relief to some patients for whom the therapy is indicated.

In addition, the Regional Multiple Sclerosis Center is involved in on-going clinical trials of promising drugs and therapies that help patients better manage their condition.

The center also offers a 2nd opinion service for physicians to refer their patients for consultation and advanced testing. The Center also offers public seminars, support groups and patient education sessions open to the general public, MS patients and their families.
