Exercise programs

Independent Exercise Program

This program is designed for those patients that are ending formal physical or occupational therapy, but would like to continue to improve strength, range of motion and flexibility. This program allows you to continue with exercises prescribed by your Physical or Occupational therapist under the direction of an Exercise Specialist (Physical and Occupational Therapists are on hand for questions).

Participants will enter this program with three, one-hour sessions, and then will be on their own to exercise independently. The initial sessions include:

  1. An initial assessment
  2. An orientation to your personalized cardiovascular workout, and
  3. An orientation to your personalized resistance workout. The initial assessment consists of filling out and reviewing a health history form, reviewing consent to exercise form, and partaking in a monitored fitness capacity evaluation.

One on one Program

This program is designed for those patients that are ending formal occupational or physical therapy, but would like to continue to improve strength, range of motion and flexibility. This unique specialized program allows you to continue with exercises prescribed by your Physical or Occupational therapist under the direction of an Exercise Specialist (Physical and Occupational Therapists are on hand for questions).

Participants in this program generally need a little extra help exercising, getting around, setting up equipment, and/or incorporating new ideas. They will work one on one with a qualified Exercise Specialist for a total of one hour per visit. Participants have the choice to exercise with us two or three times per week.

The Exercise Specialist will work with your Physical or Occupational therapist and notify him/her of any changes.

Phase III Program

This program is for those patients that have graduated from Phase II Cardiac/ Pulmonary Rehab. This program is designed to help keep you motivated to continue to increase your endurance, strength and flexibility, while having Exercise Specialists that are familiar with your past medical history on hand to help out with any questions or concerns. Monitoring of your blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation levels are also an added benefit to this program.

Community Exercise Program

This program is designed to help motivate people in our community to be physically active. Our team of Exercise Specialists will help you to increase your cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and strength.

Employee Exercise Program

This program is to motivate our Aurora Employees to be physically active. An employee discount is offered.

Youth Fitness

This program is offered for children fifth through eighth grade. Personalized attention is given to each child to help keep them interested in being active. Education on nutrition, physical fitness, and body awareness is presented to these children. Class meets Tuesday and Thursday late afternoon. Please contact the exercise specialist to answer questions.

Circuit Training & Pilates

Offered as an extra class, you can participate in 30 minutes of weight and aerobic training, coupled with 30 minutes of Mat Pilates with a certified instructor. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays for 10 weeks. Class size limited. Call for session dates.

Toning for Two

Continue to exercise while being pregnant. Exercises are designed to improve core strength and maintain flexibility. Call for dates and availability.

Freedom from Smoking

Trying to quit that habit? Need some support, or aren't sure quite how to do it? Please contact our departmental for more information or for class dates.

Weight Management

A yearlong commitment to losing unhealthy weight. Meet with an Exercise Specialist 1-on-1 to see how everyday life affects our weight. Learn how to make appropriate food choices, what makes us as individuals over eat and make unhealthy food choices, and learn how to deal with your everyday stressors. Also learn how to exercise appropriately for weight loss and then how to maintain a healthy weight. Please contact our exercise specialists with any questions you may have.
