Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a program designed with the goal of helping you improve your quality of life through exercise and education when dealing with lung disease. Your rehab program will include frequent checks of your oxygen saturation, heart rate and blood pressure with each session, and reports sent to your physician as needed. An exercise prescription will be developed on an individual basis to best suit each person's needs and abilities.

Pulmonary Rehab is designed for those dealing with different types of lung conditions which may include, but not limited to, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma or lung cancer.

The PR program is led by a team of exercise physiologist and nurses, and utilizes other disciplines in the medical field when needed.

Demonstrated outcomes of PR include:

  • Reduced hospitalizations
  • Improved quality of life
  • Reduction of symptoms
  • Decrease of anxiety and depression
  • Increase knowledge of the disease process
  • Increase activity tolerance

Education includes, but is not limited to:

  • Bronchial hygiene
  • Pulmonary nutrition
  • Disease process
  • Smoking cessation
  • Inspiratory muscle training
