Creating Awareness about Research
The goal of Research Communications is to create awareness about research at Aurora Health Care as a means to facilitate scientific discovery that will further Aurora’s mission to help people live well.
For example, the general public may want to learn about the current clinical trials that are taking place so that they or someone they know can participate in them. Physicians or scientists may want to initiate a research project and would like to learn of the opportunities available at Aurora. Outside institutions may wish to learn more about the strength of Aurora's facilities and capabilities.
By promoting the Aurora Research Institute and centers through print and online material, Research Communications helps to encourage collaboration opportunities, build accreditation rankings and expand knowledge.
Various communication channels are utilized in order to reach the specific audiences that will benefit most from receiving the information. Working with Aurora Public Relations, Research Communications provides press releases to newspaper and television outlets about the organization’s research successes.
Research Communications also delivers valuable information on current research trials and accomplishments through Aurora’s Social Media and Digital Communications departments, including this website, Facebook, Twitter and RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds. The research newsletter, Research Matters, provides timely stories to the general public on Aurora’s latest initiatives.
The measure of the success of Aurora’s research efforts is determined by the patient-centered outcomes they produce – through cutting edge clinical trials and research studies in the core areas of cardiovascular, oncology, women’s health and neurology, among others.
Discoveries and breakthroughs are published in journal articles and books and presented at national and local meetings to share this knowledge with the scientific community. New and improved treatments discovered in Aurora laboratories are ultimately translated to the patient’s bedside. Knowledge gained is shared with the community to improve lifestyle choices and offer health care options. Aurora’s ultimate goal is to help people live well.
