Neurologist honored for MS treatment discoveries
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Wisconsin Chapter recognized Aurora neurologist Bhupendra Khatri, M.D., in June
with its 2009 Physician Appreciation Award for his service to people with multiple sclerosis and his research to treat it. Dr. Khatri has conducted research showing the long-term benefits
of plasma exchange for treating MS and how to counteract a rare brain virus that is a side effect of an MS drug called natalizumab (Tysabri®). He has presented his research at the
American Academy of Neurology annual meeting, and he has been published in Neurology, an American Academy of Neurology journal. He also was invited to discuss his research and discoveries
at the Wisconsin Science and Technology Symposium this summer at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
