Snoring

Snoring occurs across all age groups and both genders all over the world. It's also a medical problem that should not be ignored.

Snoring is an abnormal breathing noise that occurs while someone is sleeping. It generally occurs when they are inhaling, rather than exhaling. This noise is caused by rapid opening and closing of the air passage, which makes it very difficult to inhale.

Typically, people do not hear themselves snoring, but often the people who live with them do. This disruption can put a strain on family or social relationships and is a frequent source of embarrassment.

About 90 million Americans over age 18 snore, and the likelihood of developing a snoring condition increases with age. Approximately 30% of American males snore at age 30, and around 40% of American males snore by age 50.

Many people can reduce the likelihood of snoring by losing weight, sleeping on their side or avoiding alcohol and smoking. If these are ineffective, there are other options for treatment such as Somnoplasty™ through your doctor.

Somonoplasty is a unique surgical method designed to reduce tissue in the upper airway. This is a minimally invasive procedure that uses very low levels of painless radio frequency waves to open the airway passages.
