Concussion Management
PLAY IT SAFE!
Concussions are always a possibility when participating in contact sports. In addition to preseason physicals, student athletes should establish a pre-concussion baseline. Through the use of ImPACT™ computerized neurocognitive assessment tool, athletic trainers at Aurora Sports Medicine Institute will work with your family physician to help manage your child's care.
Computerized neurocognitive assessment tools measure multiple aspects of cognitive functioning in athletes, including:
- Symptom check-list
- Attention span
- Working memory
- Sustained and selective attention
- Response variability
- Non-verbal problem solving
- Reaction time
