Meet our Medical LeadersTheodore (Ted) H. Gertel, MD
Dr. Gertel is a graduate of Harvard College and the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and he was a Sports Medicine Fellow at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. His research on the biomechanics of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction was presented at an international scientific conference and published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Currently, Dr. Gertel is the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Aurora Sinai Medical Center. He is the Medical Advisor for the Aurora Sports Medicine Institute. He directs the Body Composition Testing program at Milwaukee Orthopaedic Group, Limited (MOGL). Dr. Gertel is the Team Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Marquette University Men’s Basketball Team. He previously served as Head Team Physician for the Milwaukee Brewers. He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the College of Health Sciences at Marquette University. Dr. Gertel is a Grand Champion in the Body-for-LIFE 2006 Challenge (international fitness transformation competition). He is featured in the book Champions Body-for-LIFE published in June 2008. The BFL program challenges you to use your body, mind, and soul to transform your life and the lives of those around you. In the spirit of being fit and helping others, Dr. Gertel completed the 2007 Ride To Cure Diabetes (105 mile bicycle ride in Death Valley, California to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Gerard (Gerry) Adler, MD
Dr. Adler has treated athletes of all levels – professional, college, high school and amateur. His surgical experience includes procedures on two of the America's Cup professional sailors. Additionally, he performs joint replacement surgery and two forms of cartilage transplantation. His interest in orthopedics stems from a personal involvement in sports, including college football, which culminated in trips to orthopedic surgeons for various athletic injuries. His research has led to the publishing of an article on the anterior cruciate ligament in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Presently, he is the medical leader for the Aurora Sports Medicine Institute - Oconomowoc site. He also served as the Chief of Surgery at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital from 1997-1999. Surgery Jonathan Charles Henry, MD
After receiving his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, Dr. Henry completed his orthopedic surgical training at University Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Additionally, he holds a sports medicine fellowship from Ohio State University. As an active member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, Dr. Henry has presented original research at various national meetings and has published articles on a number of sports medicine related topics. He has provided sports medicine care for a variety of teams ranging in levels from recreational, high school, major university to semi-professional. Dr. Henry's athletic background includes participation in varsity crew (rowing) while at UW-Madison '87-91. He currently enjoys cross-country skiing, cycling and running. Locations:
