Aurora VNA 2011 Annual Report
Message from Eileen Scharenbroch, Board Chair
It's so amazing to be involved with one of our state’s oldest and most extensive home health agencies. I had the honor and privilege to again serve as the chair for the Aurora VNA board of directors in the past year.
It's been rewarding to meet so many families and individuals whose lives have been touched by Aurora VNA caregivers. There are families who talk about the comfort and security that they’ve experienced because of the work our caregivers do every day. I’ve heard from spouses who are grateful for a much-needed respite from their continual caregiver responsibilities. And I’ve spoken to parents who have gained the confidence they need to manage the stress of their child's chronic health issues.
Aurora VNA caregivers are a special group – home health nurses, therapists, aides and others in more than 2,300 homes across eastern Wisconsin. Those are home visits that happen every day of the year – in all types of weather and all types of conditions.
Think about the number or people were touched by the Aurora VNA in 2011:
- 253,077 Patient visits
- 37,175 Patients provided with home and medical equipment
- 1,187 Pediatric patients
- 2,974 People benefiting from medical emergency response devices
Aurora VNA caregivers traveled 3,267,444 miles last year - almost 97,000 more than a year earlier.
I'm proud to lead the board of an organization that is one of the best in the country. It's not surprising that the Aurora VNA has that level of performance. To see it in action, all you have to do is spend a little time with any of the caregivers. You’ll quickly see their passion and commitment to helping all patients and their families – including those who don’t have the resources to pay for their care.
The support of many individuals, foundations, corporations, and other groups and agencies enables the Aurora VNA to meet the needs of those with the fewest resources. Through our donors' generosity, we are making a difference in thousands of lives in communities and neighborhoods throughout eastern Wisconsin.
Thank you!
