It is estimated that as many as 16 percent of women experience symptoms of Vulvodynia or chronic vulvar pain, but a lack of public awareness and the personal nature of the condition make it difficult for many women to discuss. And, once a woman does seek help, it can be difficult to diagnose because there are no visible signs.

Vulvodynia pain is usually indicated by one of the following, or a combination of:

  • Burning                                                                             
  • Stinging
  • Soreness                                                                            
  • Rawness
  • Itching                                                                               
  • Throbbing
  • Painful intercourse (dyspareunia)
