You can reduce your risk of heart attack. Start by becoming aware
of your risk factors. Risk factors are characteristics and
habits that increase your chances of developing coronary heart
disease. Some factors you can't control, like your age or family
medical history. By making a few changes in your daily habits, you can
reduce other risk factors. If you even have one risk factor for
heart disease, your chance of getting heart disease can be doubled
compared to someone with no risk factors. The more risk factors
you have, the greater your risk.
