         Recurrent Ovarian Cancer (GOG 0213)

Purpose of the study:

The first purpose of the study is to determine if it is beneficial to the patient to have a second debulking surgery. The second purpose is to compare the standard of care chemotherapy of Carboplatin and Taxol to that of Chemotherapy with the addition of Bevacizumab.

Participants must :

  • have had a diagnosis of epithelial ovarian cancer that has recurred.
  • have had a complete response to front-line platinum-taxane chemotherapy at least 6 months ago.
  • have adequate bone marrow function.
  • not have had more than one chemotherapy regimen, prior to radiation to the abdomen, or other cancers.
  • not have CNS disease.
  • not have significant cardiovascular disease.
