The ACT-1 study compares carotid artery stenting to carotid artery surgery in patients who have blockages in their carotid arteries but are not symptomatic.

To participate in the ACT-1 study, you must

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have carotid artery blockage
• Not have had a stroke or ministroke in the past 6 months
• Be eligible for carotid artery surgery
