Overview

Kurt Waldhuetter joined Aurora Health Care in 2013 as vice president of research development and business services for Aurora Research Institute. He leads multidisciplinary teams that complete hundreds of research agreements; perform research billing; provide curated research data, advanced analytics and annotated biospecimens for research; and protect and commercialize new technologies to advance the institute’s core purpose of helping people live well through innovative research.
 
Mr. Waldhuetter operates centralized research services through his team to make it easy for investigators and industry to pursue and conduct high-quality research within a large health system. 
 
He has nearly 20 years of experience launching and working with technology startups, building business models, and commercializing new technologies with a focus on leadership, intellectual property management and licensing, and go-to-market strategy within the health care, software, aerospace and manufacturing industries. Mr. Waldhuetter developed a comprehensive intellectual property policy for Aurora, leading to many new invention disclosures and entrepreneurial projects.
 
Mr. Waldhuetter summarizes his leadership style as entrepreneurial and visionary, an influencer and relationship builder, a mentor and a coach. He is currently working on building a team to tackle high-impact problems and questions around outcomes research and epidemiology, leveraging Aurora’s single electronic health record.
