Cancer ServicesBuddy Program

Overview

The Cancer Services Buddy Program at Aurora recognizes that cancer diagnosis and treatment is a life-changing journey – one you shouldn’t travel alone.

The Buddy Program believes that talking with someone who has had cancer can be helpful if you’ve just been diagnosed.

At this time, the Buddy Program is being updated to better serve you.

Please check back for this opportunity or contact our Vince Lombardi Cancer Hotline 1-800-252-2990 regarding available support services

Volunteer Patient Advocate

Aurora Cancer Care needs caring volunteers to provide emotional support to our patients in our Cancer Centers. During their long treatments, patients might need your support or your assistance by getting beverages, warm blankets, DVD players and videos, etc. We are looking for both cancer survivors as well as anyone with life experience, to help mentor patients through this challenging time and provide companionship for our cancer patients.

The volunteers will help our patients by:

  • Talking with patients during their treatment
  • Baking cookies
  • Restock supplies
  • Tidy patient rooms and waiting areas
  • Greeting and Escorting patients
