overview

At Aurora Health Care, we’re committed to cutting-edge research in the laboratory and integrating the results at our patients’ bedsides, as well as sharing our knowledge with the community. The Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani Center for Integrative Research on Cardiovascular Aging is a big part of our research mission. The work of the team complements our existing research programs in interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, heart failure, cell therapy, regenerative medicine and biomedical research, among others.

Our current research studies, which are supported by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health, are focused on understanding the biology of the aging heart and aging-associated heart diseases. As our population ages, there’s a greater incidence of diseases associated with aging, and that’s what the center’s research mission is about.

The goal of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani Center for Integrative Research on Cardiovascular Aging is to understand the biology of aging and aging-associated diseases and to design novel strategies to prevent such diseases, promote wellness and preserve health in the community.
