Cardiac Specialty Centers

Aurora’s specialty heart centers treat patients with conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, adult congenital heart disease, Marfan syndrome and valvular heart disease. The centers are led by A. Jamil Tajik, MD and a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

Services & Treatment

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic condition that causes the heart muscle be become abnormally thick, interfering with blood flow. This may cause fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations or heart failure. It can affect people of all ages, but young and athletic individuals often are diagnosed with more severe forms.

Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center: Sometimes babies are born with defects in one or more structures of their heart or blood vessels. Because treatment is more and more effective, more adults live with these conditions and require specialized care.

Center for Marfan and Aortic Disorders: Marfan is an inherited connective tissue disorder of the heart that can lead to leaky heart valves or dilatation or enlargement of the aorta.

Valvular Heart Disease Center: This condition occurs when heart valves no longer work properly and may let blood flow backward, or prevent blood from flowing forward.
