Care at Your Fingertips

E-Visits help you get care for minor problems — including lower back pain, headaches and sinus infections — online with any mobile device. You receive personalized treatment recommendations, including prescriptions when necessary.

How E-Visits Work

E-Visits are a convenient alternative to urgent care. Using the secure messaging feature in MyAdvocateAurora, you describe the problem — and our primary care experts respond with personalized treatment recommendations.

Highlights of E-Visits include:

  • Timely responses: E-Visits are available seven days a week — even on holidays. If you send an E-Visit request between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., you can expect to hear back from one of our providers in about an hour. If you send your request after 9 p.m., we respond the next morning.
  • Expertise: You can breathe easier, knowing a team you know and trust is responding to your request. Many of our providers have years of experience in meeting the primary care needs of adults and children. This expertise helps you get the care that best meets your needs. Meet our primary care team.
  • Coordinated care: Providers access your health information in our systemwide electronic medical record as necessary. This information allows us to tailor treatments to meet your needs. When follow-up care is necessary, your regular primary care provider can view a summary of the E-Visit. This information helps us coordinate ongoing care without asking you to recall important details.

You start your E-Visits by completing a brief questionnaire about the symptoms you’re experiencing. One of our primary care providers reviews the information and responds with a diagnosis and treatment plan, including prescription medications, if needed. For more information, read our E-Visit FAQs.

Helpful Info

Getting The Most Out of E-Visits

Other helpful information about E-Visits includes:

  • Eligibility: You’re eligible to participate in E-Visits if you already have a provider in our system and you’re a resident of either Wisconsin or Illinois. You must also be located in Wisconsin or Illinois because our providers may practice medicine only in those states.
  • Providers: A qualified Advocate Aurora Health primary care or urgent care provider will address your E-Visit.
  • Insurance: Health insurance typically does not cover E-Visits, meaning you must pay out of pocket. If additional tests or office visits are necessary, your insurance may cover these services.

Urgent Care and Emergency Care

If you are experiencing symptoms of a problem that cannot safely be treated through an E-Visit, a provider will call you to discuss next steps.

Your options may include:

  • Urgent care: Our urgent care clinics provide in-person care without an appointment. Most clinics are open during evenings and weekends. Find out more about our urgent care services.
  • Emergency care: For symptoms such as chest pain that could result from serious conditions, we may recommend going to the nearest emergency room. See our emergency room locations.
